Vicki Parker, RN
Board Responsibility: President
A 1974 diploma graduate of the Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Vicki worked in med/surg, women’s health, labor and delivery, home health and surgery. But in 2008, she learned about faith community nursing, and felt like she had come “home”. Vicki completed her initial training through Gwinnett Medical Center in 2009, and the Faith Community Nurse Coordinator program in 2011 at Shenandoah University in Virginia. She has served on the faculty of the Faith Community Nurse course at Gwinnett Medical Center for more than six years.
Vicki is employed as a Health Advocate Nurse (operating on a faith community nursing model) for Herschend Family Entertainment. Her “faith community” is comprised of the employees of Stone Mountain Park. This position was created through a grant from the Georgia Baptist Healthcare Ministry Foundation, and is so successful the company has expanded it to include 6 properties. Vicki does professional oversight for the six-member Health Advocate Nurse team in addition to her duties at Stone Mountain Park.
The future of faith community nursing is a topic of great passion for Vicki. She is a member of Baptist Nursing Fellowship, Health Ministries Association, Georgia Faith Community Nurses Association, and a founding member of Faith Community Nurses International. Vicki develops programs in her current FCN role with a focus on both sustainability and relevance.
Married to husband Lloyd since 1974, they raised four children and lots of pets. Their rewards for those endeavors are the 7 grandchildren (6 here and 1 in heaven) and 3 great-grandchildren the Lord has provided. Vicki is an avid reader and loves scrapbooking when not playing with grandchildren. At church, she co-teaches a women’s Bible study class and sings in the choir.
