Georgia Faith Community
Nurses Association

Cindy Newman, RN

Board Responsibility: Secretary

Tell us about your family: I am married to Ed and have 4 children, Tom, Sarah, David, and Melissa. I have one grandson, Jayden, who is 7 years old. We also have 2 dogs

Tell us about your work/ministry: I am employed by the WellStar Health System as their Congregational Health Nurse. I coordinate the Congregational Health Network that is comprised of approx. 70 churches, all different sizes and denominations. I help each of those churches to assess their congregation and then put wellness initiatives in place to meet those needs. WellStar then supports them with speakers, classes, and supplies for screening events. The two areas of passion that I have are CPR and Advance Care Planning.

Why is Faith Community Nursing important to you? Health is not just physical or mental.  Spiritual healing plays a key role in the healing process regardless of the problem. Faith community nursing brings nursing back to a wholistic approach of care that is person centered.
